Information is collected for clear website, communication and editorial purposes.
Digitalize Life does not sell visitors’ personal information.
You can manage cookies and exercise your UK data-protection rights.
In plain English
Digitalize Life collects information you choose to provide through forms and comments, together with limited technical and analytics information used to operate and understand the website.
Information is not sold, and submitting a form does not add you to a marketing list. Some trusted service providers process information on our behalf.
This summary is provided for convenience. The full policy below explains the details.
About this Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy explains how personal information is handled when you use digitalizelife.com.
Digitalize Life is operated by a sole trader based in England. The full data-controller identity and contact details are provided in Section 12 at the bottom of this policy.
Information collected
Depending on how you use the website, Digitalize Life may collect:
- your name, email address and message when you use a contact or feedback form;
- information supplied through the Submit a Tool form;
- the name, website and comment text you choose to provide when leaving a public comment;
- technical information such as IP address, browser type, device information, pages visited and approximate usage data;
- cookie choices and information produced by analytics, security, spam-prevention and affiliate systems.
Digitalize Life does not intentionally collect special-category personal data and asks that you do not provide sensitive personal information unless it is genuinely necessary.
How and why information is used
Personal information may be used to:
- respond to messages, feedback, corrections and business enquiries;
- assess and manage tool submissions;
- publish and moderate comments;
- operate, secure, troubleshoot and improve the website;
- measure website use and affiliate referrals;
- keep appropriate records and meet legal obligations.
The lawful basis depends on the purpose:
- Legitimate interests: operating, securing and improving the website; responding to messages and enquiries; assessing tool submissions; moderating comments; measuring website use and affiliate referrals; and keeping reasonable editorial and business records. Our legitimate interests are running an independent editorial website safely, accurately and sustainably.
- Consent: non-essential cookies and similar technologies, such as analytics, embedded content and affiliate tracking. You can withdraw consent at any time through the cookie settings control.
- Steps connected with a contract: where you enter into, or ask about, a paid arrangement with Digitalize Life.
- Legal obligations: record-keeping and disclosures required by law.
Digitalize Life does not use personal information to make solely automated decisions that have legal or similarly significant effects.
Submission privacy
04Tool Submission Data
The Submit a Tool form may collect the submitter’s name, email address, relationship to the tool, tool name, website address, description, category, pricing and availability information, together with confirmations about accuracy, authority and acceptance of the site’s legal terms.
This information is used to assess the submission, verify facts, contact the submitter, consider possible editorial coverage and keep reasonable editorial or administrative records.
A submission may generate an internal notification and a confirmation email. It does not automatically subscribe the submitter to marketing communications.
Do not enter passwords, API keys, private access credentials or other sensitive security information into the public form. Restricted review access should be arranged separately.
Retention and security
Personal information is kept only for as long as reasonably needed for the purpose for which it was collected, including responding to enquiries, managing submissions, maintaining published comments or coverage, meeting legal obligations and resolving disputes.
General enquiries and private feedback are normally kept for up to 12 months after the last meaningful contact. Unsuccessful tool submissions may be kept for up to 24 months after the last activity. Records supporting published coverage may be kept while that coverage remains available and for up to 24 months afterwards.
Reasonable technical and organisational safeguards are used to protect personal information. No website or electronic storage system can be guaranteed completely secure.
Your UK data-protection rights
Depending on the circumstances, you may have the right to:
- ask for access to your personal information;
- ask for inaccurate information to be corrected;
- ask for information to be deleted or its use restricted;
- receive certain information in a portable format;
- object to processing based on legitimate interests;
- withdraw consent at any time where processing relies on consent.
You can object at any time to processing based on legitimate interests. Digitalize Life will stop unless there is a compelling lawful reason to continue.
Requests can be sent to [email protected]. Identity may need to be verified before a request is completed.
Requests are normally answered within one calendar month. If a request is complex, or if you make a number of requests, this period may be extended by up to two further months. You will be told if an extension applies.
Data-protection complaints
To make a data-protection complaint, email [email protected] with the subject “Data Protection Complaint”. Digitalize Life will acknowledge the complaint within 30 days, investigate it appropriately and communicate the outcome without undue delay.
You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO), the UK’s data-protection regulator, at any time. You can do this through ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint or by calling 0303 123 1113. We would appreciate the chance to address your concern first, but you are not required to contact Digitalize Life before going to the ICO.
